In brief — DataXu expanding in Boston
DataXu CEO Mike Baker says the company is taking additional space for its South Boston headquarters.
South Boston “Innovation District” resident DataXu is expanding its headquarters, as the company continues to grow fast in the area of providing technology for automatically (and rapidly) placing customer-targeted ads online.
CEO Mike Baker didn’t have the square footage on the expansion off hand, but it’s sizeable; the project involves taking space in the adjoined building next to their current office at 281 Summer St. Baker said the expansion is expected to be completed this quarter.
The company has grown to a staff of more than 100 in Boston, and expects to add another 20 to 25 employees in Boston this year, Baker said.
DataXu saw more than $30 million in revenue in 2011 and has 400 customers, he said, which include Ford, Kellogg’s and SAP.
How We Work
You’re not just buying a system from us. You’re partnering with us to co-develop your customer acquisition strategy for the future—your 100% digital future. Some experts claim that 100% digital advertising will not happen until 2020. Others predict the end of advertising altogether. It’s clear that the future will be here sooner than expected and that it will bring profound changes. Those who will be ready to embrace it first will win—and win big.
And we’ve embraced it. This is why we recently acquired Mexad, a leading European demand-side platform services provider with established local digital marketing expertise in Germany, the UK, Spain, France, Italy and Brazil. The addition of Mexad comes at an important time for brands looking to run global programs at scale leveraging the efficiency and effectiveness of DSPs. As economic concerns deepen, companies are increasingly working to maximize their ROI to drive higher profits. Multinational advertisers have relied on DX3 to optimize their digital marketing and customer acquisition efforts in North America. With the acquisition, DataXu will offer these customers unrivalled global scale and efficiency, while also providing country-specific knowledge and a high level of local service.
